This is a 25-7/8" long White Buffalo ceremonial pipe that is handcrafted out of gorgeous, translucent White Alabaster (or white pipestone) that was imported from Italy. This stone is very attractive and because it's translucent, when you go to light your pipe, the bowl will glow from the flame. The pipe also can be held up to the sun or to a light and you will be able to see the translucent nature of it. This particular ceremonial pipe is nearly 100% white. There are just a couple small areas that have a little bit of a color variation on this pipe.
It seems natural to make a peace pipe with a buffalo on it. The buffalo provided every single neccessity to the Plains Indians from their clothing to their food to their lodging. It was critical to their very survival. The White Buffalo, of course, has very special spiritual significance to Native Americans.
This ceremonial pipe will measures 25-7/8" long, when the stem is inserted into the bowl. The bowl itself measures 6-1/8" long and it is 3-5/16" tall. There is some extra-
ordinary craftsmanship in this pipe, including details showing the tail, the mouth, the horns, and the matted fur on the buffalo's back. The eventual owner of this pipe is sure to be extremely pleased with their purchase!
The stem is made out of a beautiful piece of California Redwood. It is decorated with traditional Sioux beadwork (in 2 places) and long leather fringes. We really like the way the black & white beadwork looks against the pure white pipe bowl. This pipe has excellent draw and the bowl has been reamed out to allow for plenty of tobacco. This will be a very nice ceremonial pipe for someone. The pipe is signed by Hapan.
