It is also commonly referred to as "Black Pipestone". Steatite has been used for centuries by Native Americans to make ceremonial pipes and other items.
The pipe bowl measures 5" long and is 2-1/2" tall. The claws or talons on the pipe are carved in a "relief" style. This really adds to the beauty and the "real" look of this pipe.
The Eagle Claw pipe is representative of the mother eagle protecting the egg. The egg represents the re-creation of life. This is a never-ending cycle.
The pipe is signed by "Hapan". The stem is made out of a piece of ash and has been decorated with 32 brass tacks that have been treated to look like they`re antique.
